Youth in Action After School Delinquency Prevention Program

Youth in Action – After School Delinquency Prevention Program, established on June 1, 2000, is Cornerstone’s premiere youth program dedicated to After School Delinquency Prevention. The program was organized and founded after recognizing a great need in the community and a lack of juvenile delinquency prevention programs, especially for first- and second-time offenders in the immediate area. This program provided a wide variety of well-planned and professionally directed activities for at-risk youth. This program has had an even greater impact in our community by strengthening the unstable family dynamics, providing resources for youth and families, and delivering materials to address the needs in the community which contribute to youth delinquent behaviors. The program’s focused location was Broward County. The program is designed to create projects to support the needs of the community, generate thematic focused delivery of services, and identify opportunities for service projects. The program provides training, workshops, leadership coaching and skills development to engage the community and enhance their knowledge of youth problems and concerns with an emphasis on developing solutions. We direct small groups of mentors to implement projects to address the task at hand. Our youth leaders work with senior staff to develop strategic approaches to planning and implementing services, they also direct the team leaders to implement projects to engage youth in the development of ideas to reduce juvenile delinquency.
